Defeat Negativity

Hello everyone!
It has been a long time since I last wrote a post! My husband and I just moved, and things were just too crazy, it didn’t allow me time to sit and write! I will be sharing a blog post on our new place once things are all unpacked. This is a blog post, I had shared on an old site of mine, but I feel it still resonates today.

I just wanted to share something that has been on my heart for a while. Let’s face it, life is full of ups and downs, we are never going to be prepared for what life throws at us. I like to think of myself as an optimist, I am “the glass is always half full” kind of girl. However, I find it hard to live with that mentality in todays world!

Do you ever get stuck in the rut of negativity? No? .. Maybe it is just me! … But really, if we are all honest, all of us get stuck here. Some get stuck for longer than others.

In the summer and fall of 2016, I found myself stuck here. I jumped into a position at work that was full of promises, and found myself feeling disappointed, stressed, and used. To be completely honest, I was burnt out. I felt I was giving my all, with nothing in return. I was running on empty, and I had nothing positive to say. I was living in negativity.

In this time, I had to do some serious soul searching. I knew I wasn’t reading my bible as much as I should have. I wasn’t praying as much as I should have. I was upset with myself, because I knew better.  I grew up sitting on the church pew, I have heard hundreds of Sunday School lessons and sermons on prayer and reading God’s word. But that didn’t stop me from being human, I was stuck in the negative.

Too often, we beat ourselves up and hold on to the fact we did the wrong thing for far too long. In reality, we just have to give it to God and it’s tossed into the sea of forgetfulness. Here’s what the bible tells us about holding on to sin, and in contrast what happens when we let go.

When I kept silent about my sin, my body wasted away through my groaning all the day long. For day and night Your hand [of displeasure] was heavy upon me; My energy (vitality, strength) was drained away as with the burning heat of summer. Selah. I acknowledged my sin to You,And I did not hide my wickedness;I said, “I will confess [all] my transgressions to the Lord”And You forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah. Therefore, let everyone who is godly pray to You [for forgiveness] in a time when You [are near and] may be found;Surely when the great waters [of trial and distressing times] overflow they will not reach [the spirit in] him.You are my hiding place; You, Lord, protect me from trouble; You surround me with songs and shouts of deliverance. Selah.”

Psalm 32:3-7 AMP

One of my favorite things about God, is he FORGIVES! I had to ask God to forgive me and deliver me from my rut of negativity. Guess what, my burden was lifted. The heaviness of negativity was gone. You can experience this too!

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30 KJV

Negativity is a DAILY struggle, this world that is full of negativity and discord. We as Christians are called to be separate, and being positive and joyful is a part of that! I challenge you to start your day out with prayer and devotion in God’s Word. I promise you, your day will go so much smoother with God. Put your complete trust in Him, and you can battle the negativity that is out there daily
